Israel has the right to respond any way it chooses ...

It reminds me of the time when then-Secretary of State, Norma Burgos, tried to rewrite history and said that the USA didn't invade Puerto Rico in 1898, but they were "invited".

Israel, which should be expecting this, is now expecting this. Which means it will now prepare for this in very serious terms. It's only going to escalate.

The question is whether this trick is going to work, and we'll see tomorrow. If Syrian protests and conflict continue as has been the case these last weeks, this staged event has had zero impact. It also seems, from the staged events on the West Bank and Gaza, that Fatah may no longer be thinking about a state, but, once again, a complete victory over Israel. That is, a successful genocidal campaign against the Jews.

Meanwhile, George Mitchell is taking a well-deserved break and will not be looking at a newspaper for about a year.

Meanwhile, over 600 people have been killed protesting the Syrian regime.

But look over there, Zionists!

Syrian Human Rights: Over 800 killed in Syria so far

May 7, 2011

Beirut, Lebanon: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement that security forces have killed at least 800 civilians since protests erupted in Syria, Reuters reported on Saturday.

The organization also said that it has the names of the 800 people, adding that 220 of them were killed in attacks by the Syrian army in Daraa.

This is substantially higher than the number reported by the Syrian revolution 2011 the Facebook group which has emerged as the organizing force behind the demonstrations. It reported yesterday that 683 protesters have been killed so far by the Syrian security forces since the unrest started.

That's exactly the idea. It's straight out of the Tyrant's Playbook:

When domestic unrest gets bad, pick a fight with a foreign enemy.

It backfired on the Argentine junta in 1982. Defeat in the Falklands war discredited their fascist regime completely and they were quickly overthrown. May the chinless one and his henchmen meet the same fate.

I'm glad you're not part of the Israeli government. You've got some pretty bad ideas for how to bring peace.

In fact, those "other nations" have demonstrated every day for over 60 years that they will not respect Israel's borders. Sovereignty as determined by Arab dominated international organizations and media does not define a border, effective and necessary control does. Israel has established that control in the Golan since 1967 and Syria has accepted it in fact though not in its all-important propaganda operations.
